Children’s Ministry Director
A dream without a plan is just a wish, and a dream with Christ becomes the plan. I have found this too be true in many aspects of my life. I have always been a planner of big dreams and done as much as possible to accomplish them. Sometimes God has a plan of His own that when followed turns into something great.
I was born and raised in Hawaii and accepted Christ at age four. Calvary Chapel Pearl Harbor has been my home growing up. Being a Pastor’s kid has definitely had it’s ups and downs, but I believe it has made me the strong and motivated person I am today. It has been a privilege working for my dad and seeing how to run a business. It was amazing to watch my parents start the church from our living room and see what it is today. They had the dream of expanding the church to a private school and a pregnancy resource center. Within about ten years time they did just that! That is one of the remarkable ways I know that God has His hand upon us. Through trials and triumphs the Lord is faithful to those who place their trust in Him. My parents have been an excellent example of a married couple working together in ministry.
Naturally growing up in the ministry means I’ve dabbled in many different aspects of church service: Secretary, Administrative Assistant, Bookstore Attendant, Theatre Arts Director, Choir Director, the worship team and now I’m blessed to be serving along side my husband, Josh, as the Children’s Ministry Directors and the church’s Graphic Designer. I have a Bachelors Degree in Media Marketing and am an Internationally Certified Wedding and Event Coordinator. On top of working for the church, I have my own wedding and event company called “Events by Kamerra.” I enjoy spending time with my family, planning events, traveling on cruise ships abroad, road trips through America, and watching “Fixer Upper.”
After getting engaged to my husband, I moved to Texas where he was attending school at the time. We loved Texas and I was working at a prestigious Fort Worth country club. I loved the experience of working outside my comfort zone of “dad’s church” on an island. Josh and I got married November 2, 2014 and we were well on our way of starting our new lives together in Texas. Late February 2015 we found out that God had a different plan for us and that our daughter, Madilynn, would be joining our family in October. We then struggled with what the plan would now be as Josh was going to school and working full-time and I had long hours at the country club. In the midst of this already crazy situation, we were just a few signatures away from buying our first home. Everything got put on hold as we had to pray and wait for God’s plan. A few opportunities opened at CCPH and I became very sick through-out the whole pregnancy. It was clear that God’s plan for us was to move back to Hawaii. It was hard for me and is still hard at times, but I know this is the season for which God has us in and He is using us to be EXTRAordinary for Him in the lives of the CCPH families.
I hold on to the scripture in Jeremiah chapter 29 verse 11 that says: For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
